Minimum wage increased for the third straight year.
Ohio rose its minimum wage from $7/hour to $7.30/hour effective Jan. 1 for all non-tipped employees, wage employees of companies that gross more than $267,000 a year.
The minimum wage for tipped employees (such as waitresses and bartenders, not the norm for Ryan Staffing) rose from $3.50 to $3.65.
In 2006, the electorate (that means all of you active voters) passed the legislation that resets the minimum wage annually to cope with inflation.
For more information on the Ohio Minimum Wage Law, in case you forgot, can be found at the Employment Lawyer Blog.
Sorry that I have been away for a while. But with the holiday season in the rear view mirror, I'm set to start posting regularly again. Stayed tuned for another personal finance post later this week to help save you money.
Until then, have a good day.
